On September 1, 2011, Eaton Corporation acquired the assets of IE Power Inc. Eaton is a diversified power management company with more than 73,000 employees and 2010 sales of $13.7 US billion. It has an extensive portfolio of products and solutions for its customers worldwide, helping them to use electrical, fluid, and mechanical power more reliably, efficiently and safely.

This acquisition provides Eaton with strong design capabilities for high power inverters, an established product platform, and access to the rapidly growing utility solar inverter market. When combined with our global capabilities, IE Power’s robust and cost competitive inverter technology and powerful R&D capacity positions Eaton with one of the broadest solar inverter product portfolios in the industry.

IE Power can trace its roots to the early days of power electronics in Canada. IE Power’s founding President Mr. Robert (Bob) Holmes purchased the assets of the Industrial Electronics Division of CTS of Canada in 1995, continuing in a corporate history that can be traced to 1953.

Eaton's IE Power is proud to continue a tradition with the latest designs of modern technology and our virtual prototyping capabilities. Through our affiliation with DPS the company engages in a significant amount of research and development activity which includes a well established collaboration with a number of Canadian universities and relevant entities to effectively create new products.

The sales and customer service department consists of experienced sales and applications specialists skilled in analyzing customer system requirements and offering Eaton's IE Power solutions to the most unique customer requirements and specifications.

Staffed by skilled workers the manufacturing and production area is equipped to carry out heavy assembly, light manufacturing, wiring harness, and printed circuit board design, proto-typing and repair.

The test and inspection department, staffed by trained technologists, is equipped with test equipment, variable power supplies, and loading capability of testing equipment up to 5MVA . Our in house regenerative test bed enables Eaton's IE Power to test inverters with DC, three and six phase inputs so that full range load testing can be achieved at our facility for a multitude of drive, alternative energy and storage applicatioSns. Eaton's IE Power has access to additional certified facilities for environmental, shock, vibration EMI and other specialized qualification testing facilities.

Eaton's IE Power designs are backed by over 50 years of field experience and thousands of power system solutions. A solid blend of experienced personnel and the latest design techniques and engineering skills ensure superior power conversion products. Product reliability is built into every product shipped and field service requirements are minimal.
